Our Story
Uplifted Hands recognizes the need to address the homeless population in our area. We are a supportive housing program that goes a few steps beyond the traditional services. We seek to be the Forever Home for Veterans and their family members who have not thrived in traditional home environments.

Our Founder/Executive Director
Uplifted Hands is the vision of Founder and Executive Director,
Thelma Martin. Over the past 20 years, Ms. Martin has been a familiar and welcome face in the supportive housing industry. With gifted nursing skills she obtained while on staff at a prestigious Assisted Living Facility, and a natural business sense, she stepped out on faith to open her own eight-bed facility in early 2000. Senior’s Place has successfully operated in College Park, Maryland for over twenty (20) years. As one of the longest and most successful assisted living facility operators in Prince Georges County, she has met the needs of over 100 elderly and mentally ill residents in several well-established homes.
